The patient had a trimalleolar ankle fx/dislocation with severe medial soft tissue injury and full thickness skin loss, and is also endogenous obese, metastatic breast ca and insulin dependient, the Dr. did and ORIF of the fibula with an intramedullary nail, which code do your recommend, is the 27759 appropriate?? with or w/o a modifer? I know the code reads tibial shaft w or w/o fib....questioning this because he only did the fibula, over thinking myself? Thank you in advance for any input.
