Devitalized bone fragments were debrided sharply from the tuft region using #15-blade. There was significant comminution. The margins of the nail plate were debrided to a healthy margin. Following debridement of devitalized bone fragments of the open fracture, the fracture was reduced with soft tissue closure. Prolonged cleansing was performed of the wound. Soft tissue closure for reduction of the fracture was then accomplished with 5-0 chromic sutures.
