My doc did closed reduction ankle fx, knowing and scheduling an orif, It is my understanding that if closed tx is done and you know you are taking to the OR for ORIF patient was taken to surgery next day, then you only charge the open tx.

Am I correct in this thinking?

Yes I agree with you on this.
If doc knew he was bringing pt to OR for the ORIF the next day then u can only bill the office visit for that day with 57 mod, then the ORIF sx for the next day.
