Wiki Ok to code "compatible with" diagnosis?

Hello everyone:

I have a coding question, and I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.

If an impression on a pathology, radiology, or other report states that the findings are compatible with (fill in condition here), is this sufficient to assign that condition as a diagnosis? I know that probable, questionable, etc. are not sufficient to support a diagnosis, and the underlying signs/symptoms are coded instead. Different providers seem to have different opinions, and I would like a definitive answer.

Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!!!

coding "compatible with"

We do not code "compatible with" barring Dexa scans where we code "compatible with osteopenia and osteoporosis" by confirming it with the T score value. Physicians generally dictates in findings that "findings are compatible with Osteopenia and Osteoporosis. "
