Wiki office visit during global

Hello,

Our physican did surgery on a patient for open wound on hand involving tendons. The patient is still in the global period and we are doing surgery again for scar tissue removal. My question is can the physican bill for the office visit when the decision was made for scar tissue removal? or is this considered inclusive w/ global period.

If the office visit is related to the procedure in which the post-op visit exists or the underlying condition then it is global and not separately reportable. A question you will want to ask, Does the documentation support an unrelated office visit during the global period?
