If a patient comes in and has an OB visit and they send her to the hospital and she is seen, has an NST and is sent home. Can you bill both office visit and the Observation code?
Would need more information. It would depend who would be billing the observation code. If the same MD/group sees her in office and in hospital, then you would not bill the office visit, only the hospital code - you can adjust the level of service accordingly. If it was a dr of a different speciality, eg an ED dr, then yes you could bill both.
