If a pt. is admitted into observation and then it is decided the next day that they are going to be going to for acute inpatient what code is used on the first date of service??? observation or acute?

If a pt. is admitted into observation and then it is decided the next day that they are going to be going to for acute inpatient what code is used on the first date of service??? observation or acute?

I would think the first day is Observation and the second one on is Acute inpatient, but I could be wrong!

Observation for the first day and then admit for the second day since the events occur on two different days.
