We had a patient who was 28 weeks transfer to our practice. I billed a 99204/V22.2 to UHC, and they are denying the claim saying that it is included in global. Is this true even though the patient was new to us???? PLEASE HELP
I would say that you should change the diagnosis code to either V22.0 or V22.1 since V22.2 is pregnancy incidental. If you are seeing her for pregnancy, you can't use that code. Then send a letter with the claim stating this is the first time you have seen the patient as she is a transfer. I have about 50-50 luck with getting United Healthcare to pay my claims like that.
