Dear All,

I have a doubt regarding ob/gyn coding. a patient admitted for nsvd due to some complications the doctor has performed kiwi assisted vacuum delivery my doubt is can i code O80.0 with O66.5 together.

Hello Ravi,

My answer is "No"... Chapter 15 codes are not applicable along with O80.0 hence we can report O66.5 only for this case. Hope this helps...

First if you are practice coding with ICD-10 CM there is no O80.0 code there is only O80 as a valid 3 character code for full term uncomplicated delivery.
O66.5 is for attempted application of vacuum extractor and forceps
and if look the code states:
Applicable To:
Attempted application of vacuum or forceps, with subsequent delivery by forceps or cesarean delivery
This code is for failed vacuum assisted with Subsequent forceps delivery.
It would help to know more about the delivery
Also these are for practice only until Oct 1.
