Patient's mother came in and Dr. had a consult with her ( patient wasn't in the room). I just want to make sure before I tell the Dr. that this isn't a billable visit. Is this correct??? I know she will ask me for a reference, thank you.

It depends on what type of physician, the nature of the visit, and guidelines specific to the insurance company. For example, there is a behavioral health code for family therapy w/o the patient present that most commercial carriers cover.

She is an OB/GYN patient. The patient lives with only one of her parents and one is agreeing with the Dr. and the other isn't. So the mother ( who doesn't agree with what is going on) wanted to come in and talk to Dr.
