Have a question: When a doc sees a patient in consult (non-Medicare) in hospital, then again after discharge in his office...is the patient considered new or established if he has not been to his practice before?

Have a question: When a doc sees a patient in consult (non-Medicare) in hospital, then again after discharge in his office...is the patient considered new or established if he has not been to his practice before?

This patient is now considered established. The place of service that the patient was seen previously is irrelevant when determining new vs established.
