Wiki new to surgery coding

Hello,

I have never coded surgery before. If I did a 11604 in the hospital and refered ptient to an oncologist, then once released that same oncologist referred back to us to do 36561 (for chemo) in the global of the 11604 can I code both? I think I can, but not sure if that is right. Please help!!

11604 has a 10 day global period so if you are putting the Port-A-Cath in within the 10 day period of time for the same condition you can code the 36561 but you need to modify it, I would use modifier 58 staged or related since you diagnosis will probably be the same. Hope this helps you out.
