Coding companions and know which insurance is being billed

I'm answering this from a coding ortho surgeries point of view.

You need to get the most recent coding companion books. Lots of coding help there.

This is NOT a "cookie cutter" situation. What you may bill to one insurance company may not be what you can bill to another. The main separation is "Does the patient have a Medicare policy, or does the insurance follow Medicare"? If the answer is yes, then you need to follow the NCCI edits. If not, you may follow AAOS information from Code-X.

You MUST download the CMS NCCI surgical policy manual from 1/1/2017. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL!

Right here is your next best resource. Many people have helped me over the years. Post questions and more than likely you will get an answer.
