We have an Orthopedics practice where one of our docs is credentialed in Physiatry and one is credentialed in Orthopedics.
Our physiatrist wants to know if he can bill a "new" patient to him with a new patient code. This patient is established within the practice within the last 3 years as this patient had seen the orthopedist for his ankle.
His argument is that the problem is new to him and he has a different credential.
Any thoughts?
