We have a new patient that wants to be seen to follow up on her hip replacement surgery that she had with another orthopaedic group in another state.
How would we bill this? New patient?

Wiki new patient in a global period with another provider

You need a transfer of care from the other provider, then you bill the post op encounters using the same surgical code they used with the 55 modifier. You must have the transfer of care in the patient chart and a transfer of care note in field 19 of the claim.
