Pathology reads, neuroendocrine carcinoma with small cell carcinoma features, poorly differentiated, Lung, RML. The physician says 162.4, but I am thinking 209.30. Thanks in advance.
The pathologist does not code it but listed the final diagnosis as 'neuroendocrine carcinoma w/small cell carcinoma features of the lung, LML"
Our local carrier will not pay for neuroendocrine (209.30) because it is not listed as a code under the medical necessity indications for RT, but will pay for 162.4. It can not be both.
