"The diverticulum was gently compressed and there appeared to be small amount of cloudy discharge within the urethra. With more pressure on the diverticulum, additional fluid was not able to be expressed. The cystoscope was then removed. Additional pressure was placed on the diverticulum again without discharge. Next, local anesthetic was injected into the left periurethral area and the needle was advanced until fluid was aspirated. Following this, an 18-guage needle was passed along the left urethra until approc 2.5 to 3 cc of relatively thin bloody fluid was aspirated. Pressure was held on the puncture site until homeostasis was achieved. "
