Patient was admitted to the hospital for induction of labor. Was there for 2 days never delivered, so she was sent home. My question is, what codes would I use? I've never had to bill this before. Thank you for any input
You would bill for your admit and discharge codes as appropriate for either inpatient or outpatient. Diagnosis code of 659.xx along with what S/SX that indiated the inducation. If it was a social induction those are no longer covered by Medicaid in some states.
