I code for radiology, and not sure of how to code the following:
VOIDING CYSTOGRAM
The patient is a 16-year-old who underwent a CT of the abdomen in May
of this year demonstrating changes most compatible with bilateral
pyelonephritis.
Today`s scout film fails to demonstrate abnormal abdominal
calcifications. The patient was catheterized. 300 mL of contrast
were introduced in the urinary bladder in a retrograde fashion
through the catheter. The patient was unable to spontaneously void
on the table. Therefore, a postvoid film after 10 minutes was
obtained demonstrating little residual contrast in the bladder. No
definite reflux of contrast into the collecting systems is evident.
The CT scan failed to demonstrate evidence of ureteral dilatation.
IMPRESSION: The study appears normal. 45 seconds of fluoroscopy
were utilized.
I know the codes are 51600 and 74455, but do I use modifier 52 or 53, and can I use modifier 53 on 74455?
I also have a similar question posted under the General Discussion, but no one has answered yet.
