I have been having issues for quite some time with the lab coding for workers comp. The doctor is coding a 80101 QW 10 units for qualitative testing. Now I am having several insurance companies change the 80101 QW 10 units to a 80100 one unit. I am also having some ins companies change this code to a G0434. I thought the G0434 is a Medicare code, are they allowed to use this on a workers comp claim? The doctor performs a urine cup to detect the drugs then sends off to a lab to confirm how much of the drug is in their system. So is the insurance comp correct when they change the code from a 80101 to a 80100, one versus ten units? Please help I have been appealing but just dont know if its worth it.
Thank you,
