Wiki need help with observation consultion

Hello,
I have medicare patient how is in observation and our physician saw this as general surgery consultation . i read in cpt that use 99241-to 22245 but see medicare is no longer use consultation code can i use initial observation code for this situation. I appreicate for your help. thanks

For CMS Consults use E/M for what ever the patients status is.

If outpatient, use 9920*/9921* series.

If inpatient, use 9922* series (Admitting Dr should be using Mod -AI which should differentiate between your DR's E/M and the admit DR.)
