Good afternoon all!
My doc performed a lap chole with IOC. Cholangiogram demonstrated a filling defect in the CBD and it was decided at that point to perform a transcystic duct exploration. A #5 Pruitt catheter was inserted into RUQ and an attempt was made to insert this into the cystic duct, however, there was some resistance met. However, when it was flushed, there were some stones retrieved from the cystic duct. Attempt was then made to fully pass the Pruitt catheter with some resistance. The #5 Pruitt catheter was exchanged for a #4 Pruitt catheter, however, resistance was still met and could not be passed into the CBD. Due to the concern that they were unable to clear the CBD, further exploration was not attempted. The Pruitt catheter was removed and the cystic duct was clipped once distally. An Endoloop was placed over the cystic duct stump and tightned in place. The cystic duct was then fully transected.
I am not sure if I should be using the 47563 code or use 47564 with modifier 52?
