We have a patient that had a Rt ovarian cystectomy with partial oophorectomy & w/lysis of adhesions.....
would codes: 58661 and 58925 be the way to code this?

Laparoscopic?

Was the cystectomy laparoscopic or through an incision?

A good article on billing ovarian cyst is:
http://blog.supercoder.com/cpt-code...an-cyst-cpt-mistakes-with-these-helpful-tips/

According to the above article is the cystectomy was laparoscopic and no additional tissue was removed you would bill a 58662 instead of the 58925.

If it was not laparoscopic:

AAPC Coder states that there is an edit when using 58925 and 58661 together.

CCI edit Rule: Sequential procedure *
Code 58661 is a column 2 code for 58925 , but a modifier is allowed in order to differentiate between the services provided.
*Use modifier with code 58661

Hope that helps!
