In need of a CPT code for open excision of a fracture fragment, greater tuberosity, shoulder.

What codes have you been looking at? Was this part of a bigger surgery or all by itself?

Patient underwent a total shoulder about six weeks ago, then fractured the greater tuberosity. There was a fragment of the fracture that was impeding her shoulder movement, so the doc went in and excised the fragment. I'm thinking unlisted, not sure what to compare to.

Well, you have to consider how deep he went and whether he entered the joint. As far as I know, anything not normally found in a certain area of the body qualifies as a foreign body so that might be where you start. Did this fracture happen during therapy? a fall? or was it spontaneous. The answers to these will help you with an ICD code. That's all I can think of. Hope it helps.
