Wiki Need advice on telephone visits

Does anyone have any experience billing for telemedicine? We are a PCP office looking for a little advice on the topic. I imagine each payer is going to have it's own guidelines in place for telephone visits. (And I'm sure Medicare doesn't reimburse for it) What CPT codes do you use?

telephone visits and telemedicine are two very different things.,. There are codes for both of these and the rules for each are well spelled out in the CPT book. Medicare does pay for the telemedicine but you must meet the criteria. The originating site for telemedicine cannot be the patient s home or place of employment . There is a lot of information regarding telemedicine on the medicare website, and the criteria is very strict. Telephone calls Medicare does not currently reimburse for these. THey must be patient initiated. The rules for phone calls can be found in the CPT book.
