Often times the ENT doctor will do a bronchoscopy (31622) and a flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy (31575) on the same day. There is an NCCI edit so I?ve told him I can?t bill for both. He came back and asked me 2 questions and I am not sure where to even start to look for an answer.
He asked me what if another subspecialty doctor (pulmonary) performs the bronchoscopy (31622) and he perform the flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy (31575) would that cause an NCCI edit on the same day? Or, what if he does one in the emergency department and then later one in the OR, would that make a difference?
