When coding the ICD-9 for a patient who has had a previous back fusion, would you use the code V45.4 arthrodesis or V45.89. When I read the definition for V45.4 it defines joint so I don't know if that is the correct one.

I audited a visit like this just a few days ago. I would personally go with the V54.4
