Hello,
I am looking for clarification regarding the definition of multiple trauma in the table of risk from a CMS source. I am reviewing ortho trauma notes and a patient has 2 fractures one being the wrist and the other being the iliac crest. The plan for the iliac crest is to be non-weightbearing. The wrist requires surgery but the provider is using a canned statement regarding the risks so that is considered an elective surgery w/o risks specific to the patient which equals moderate. I just don't see these as acute or chronic injuries that pose a threat to life or bodily function. This may very well come down to interpretation. Does anyone happen to know of any resources that could help me with this? Thank you!
