Just looking for some clarification.
We have a group of hopitalists that often call in specialities. When the sub-specialities are following our patients along with the hospitalists, it is our understanding that the hospitalist can no longer bill the dx (as the first listed)that the specialties are seeing the patient for unless it is clearly documented as to the medical necessity as to why these 2 providers are needed to manage the one condition. Is this correct? Or can all both of these providers see the patient for multiple days billing for the same conditions?
Thanks for you help.
