Does anyone understand this rule? We do a lot of ultrasounds in our office and was curious if this rule would affect us? For example ifwe were to do a ultrasound on the neck can we also do one on the abdomen on the same day?
I suspect that ultrasounds would not fall under the multiple procedure rules as they are diagnostics. Personally, I always check the RBRVU table with MCR to tell me whether a procedure will be reduced. A zero means there is no adjustment rule applied to payment.

Check your MUE's with MDR. For our carrier we are only allowed one per day. Our specialist performs a good deal of these as well for different anatomic areas (shoulders and knees) , but only gets paid for one unit. Those MEU's are hardwired, so using modifier 59 won't pass it thru the edits. And if anyone on these forums know otherwise, please let us know!
