I need some direction on this one.
Patient had knee surgery 8/12/14, then on 10/1/14 he had a MUA
He has come in for a follow up on 10/13/14 therefore he is out of the Global Period for an MUA. However, he is still in the Global Period for the Surgery. Both are for the same knee.
How do I code this? Do I code for the MUA only and do an E/M code with a modifier 78 and code the surgery with a 99024.
They are only mentioning the MUA in the report.
