Does anyone have trouble getting payment for MRI of head prior to Gamma Knife radiosurgery? I think CPT 70553 with modifer 52 should be reported for the service below and ICD9 is 227.3pituitary adenoma & V72.83 preop exam.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clinical History
Pituitary adenoma

Technique
3T: Axial FSPGR pre- and post-contrast for gamma knife planning

Comparison
None.

Findings
There is a predominately empty sella. The left lateral sellar region there is a 7 x 6 x 5 mm focus of decreased enhancement which may represent the patient's pituitary adenoma. No other mass lesions are identified.

The ventricles and sulci are appropriate for the patient's age. Incidental note is made of a cavum septum pellucidum.

Impression
Limited study for gamma knife planning. Possible pituitary adenoma identified within the left aspect of the sella .
