Could someone help me with this my provider did a mohs surgery and sent the specimen to path it came back as "keratoacanthoma" which would be coded as a neoplasm not a cancer. I need to go back to my provider and have him change the procedure code from Mohs to an excison correct since it turned out not to be cancer. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hi, Could you supply a little more info. In reading your first sentence it says that your doctor did mohs but sent the specimen to path. Was that before the mohs was done? When Mohs is done the surgeon is also the pathologist, so I wanted to make sure on how it was done first before I give you and answer.
 
And, I know that my dermatologist does a BX first and once the path comes back then decided to do a MOHS procedure.
