Wiki Modifier question

While on call my physician saw a patient who was in for a hip dislocation. The patient had a total hip replacement on the SAME HIP 2 weeks prior by ANOTHER physician. The patient does not want to go back to the original surgeon but wants to continue with my doc.

My question is: is modifier 58 the most appropriate? If not, what would be a more appropriate code to use for the reduction of the hip dislocation?

If your doc and the original surgeon are under different tax id's then the global period modifiers will not apply to your doc.
