Hello Everyone,
I am coding a bilateral upper extremity NCS&EMG report that was discontinued because the patient had poison ivy on his right forearm. The testing was listed as discontinued, yet the physician obtained needle results for >5 muscles (95886) on both limbs. I do not think modifier 53 is appropriate since data was obtained. Would you bill with or without the modifier?
The patient returned the following week and had only one EMG needle study since his arm healed.
Thank you for your thoughts and consideration.
