Does anyone have information if we need to add 25 modifier to an EM code with labs such as strep test 87880 or UA 81002 are done in the office on the same date of service. Or can anyone lead me to an article anywhere regarding this issue Please advise Thank You:)

There are no NCCI edits that require a modifier on the e/m; however, there might be payers who do want them on the claim.

There are separate modifiers like L1 for such visits...

(L1 ? unrelated lab) will be used on the 13X TOB when outpatient clinical lab tests qualify for separate payment under the CLFS for exceptions 2 and 3. The 14X TOB will only be used for non-patient specimen tests (exception 1) and will not include the new modifier.
