:)Question: Patient is post op procedure for knee, orthopaedic specialis, Dr. A. on 8\1\12. Patient returned to orthopaedic practice for foot related injurying, 14 days after knee procedure and is seen by physician B. Does this visit with physician B, E\M have a -24 modifier applied. I was taught as long as it was the same practice \same speciality a -24 would be required .
Can anyone please clarify?
Thanks

Hi there. I work for a 5 doctor family practice in Arizona.

I don't really know if you need the modifier 24, I do know that there is a global period of 10 days for patients who return to the doctor within ten days of having a procedure done such as wart removal, etc. Not sure if this will help or not. :)

I think for physician B no need to use modifier -24, we can use -24 for physician A because this is unrelated service provided in the postoperative period. please check once

If two physicians practice in the same practice and the same specialty they are recognized as the same physician whit respect tp the global therefore Phys B would need the 24 or the visit will deny as global.
