Wiki Modalities in Ortho Office

Can an Ortho charge for Modalities in the clinic setting or must it only be done by a PT?
For example if a Dr. sees a pt with ankle pain and decides to put a TENS and hot pack on
the pt for 15 minutes. Can this be billed? Thanks guys!

I code for Ortho/PT at a Sports Medicine office and both my providers and PTs bill for modalities at the office. According to AMA CPT guidelines "Physician or other qualified health care professional" are allowed to bill out these charges.
