I have a patient that had surgery to repair their medial meniscus tear of their RT knee. They are now being seen by our physical therapist for therapy. The code states CURRENT INJURY S83.241D. I'm hesitant to use it since they had surgery to repair it. Does anyone know if there is another code I should be using for this?

After surgical repair, if the sutures are healed then the injury has healed.. The reason for PT is usually residual stiffness or gait instability. These are the late effects caused by having had the injury. So if this is the case code these late effects then code the injury with the S.
