Wiki Mid level providers-Can anybody please

Can anybody please tell me if mid levels (APNs or PAs) can perform and/or read ultrasounds and get reimbursed for them? Thanks

it dependent on Payer, if insurence copany allow to bill Mid level physician, we can code it.

Not for Medicare. Other providers you'll have to check with individually. For Medicare you will need to separate the service into the PC & TC components. You bill the PC with a 26 modifier under the mid-level's NPI number and the TC under the doctor's NPI. The governments position is that the mid-level is an employee of the practice therefore does not own the equipment as is not eligible to bill for the technical component.
