Wiki Meniscectomy with chondroplasty

My boss says that we can still bill a 29881 in one compartment with a chondroplasty in another for Blue Shield, Tufts, etc.

I say you can no longer bill G0289 with 29881.

Anyone that can help will be appreciated.

No you cannot bill separately and/or using the G0289 code for a chondroplasty when a meniscectomy of any type if performed in a different compartment.

The CPT code description is very clear when doing a meniscectomy with a chondroplasty. You can only use the G0289 code for loose bodies in a separate compartment and the documentation should specific at least a 5mm loose body before using.
