I have been searching all morning and I cannot find a legitimate link that shows if you can or cannot bill a Medicaid patient a no show fee. When our patients start with our practice, one of the forms that they have to sign clearly states our no show rules and fee and this is clearly posted in our waiting room. The only information I can find online is quite a few years old and nothing from a legitimate site. If anyone has a link where I can print out the information for my manager I would really appreciate it.

This could vary by state.

According to this link, Virginia Medicaid does not allow a "no-show" fee. It would be in violation of the DMAS Provider Enrollment agreement.

That is stated on page 3 at the bottom of this link: https://www.dmas.virginia.gov/media/1514/billing-faqs.pdf

If your provider wants further documentation, I'd suggest referencing the provider's DMAS Provider Enrollment agreement.

It's state specific. If you decide to do so, and your state is ok with it, you have to charge no-show appointments for everyone; you can't just pick on the Medicaid population. And you also can't bill Medicare or Medicaid for those no-shows.
