Our PCP facility is a teaching facility. We have internship programs for newly credentialed Dr's. I am a biller for this facility.

I have been advised that MediCaid (MediCal in California) requires that 1st and 2nd year Dr's must be "shadowed" by a Preceptor in order for the facility to be able to charge for the office visit and procedures. (This may be the case with other payers but my concern is MediCal)

If the intern is not shadowed, we can not bill for services. The reference that I have been given is "Title 22". I wish to read the exact wording to support above. I can not find the Title 22 verbiage on the web concerning above.

Where exactly can I find reference material for above?

Thank you in advance.

California Title 22

Found one link, hope it helps. You will be able to search around in this site for more info on Title 22.

Online California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 2 and 6 only

Also found this PDF for California paramedic students and the Preceptor handbook??? Hehe, Anyway, it touches base on Title 22 and the scope of practice on page 4. Might could use this as a reference.
