I have a pt that had a colonoscopy-45378. The indication for the test is considered medically necessary but the final findings are not. I've always been told to go with the findings on physician side but the whole reason for the test was considered necessary. I'm just having a hard time accepting this since I have some outpatient coding in my background . So any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The indication is blood in stool 578.1 and changes in bowel habits 787.99 both meet med nec but the findings internal and external hemorroids do not: 455.3 & 455.0.

is it possible the hemmorroids are an incidental finding? If it is identified that the hemorroids are the source of the rect5al bleeding then perhaps you need the provider to confirm that there are complications or thrombosis.
