Wiki MDM and Chemo

If the physician documents that the patient will come in next week for chemo tx does this bump the MDM up to high risk?
- I have heard both ways, yes mark as high to give the doctor credit for the chemo and then I have heard it the other way as the level is based on what was done that DOS, and no tx was gave so you would not count anything.

Please help.

I have a simple answer, though it may bit a of a cop-out since it doesnt' directly answer your question.

It stands to reason that if the patient is coming in next week for chemotherapy, they have a chronic illness that may pose a threat to life of bodily function. That is a high risk presenting problem.

Note: just because the risk is high DOES NOT mean that the overall Medical Decision Making Complexity was high. Risk is just 1 of 3 components of MDM complexity.
