Is Mcare really implementing Icd-10 on hosp institutional claims oct 1st 2013 ???????

Reading the MLN Matters from the Department of Health and Human Services, centers for medicare & medicaid services there is a recent article that states Mcare will be implementing ICD-10 starting Oct 1st 2013. It reads that this article is for all physicians, providers, and suppliers submitting claims to Mcare contractors ( carriers, fiscal Intermediaries and or part A/B Mcare administrative contractors(MAC), Regional Home Health Intermediaaries (RHHIS) and Durable Medical Equipment MACs (DME MACs) for services provided to Medicare beneficiaries. Under the Provider Action Needed it goes on to say that for the dates of service on and after Oct 1, 2013 entities covered under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Are required to use the ICD-10 code sets in standard transactions adopted under HIPAA. The HIPAA standard health care claim transactions are among those for which ICD-10 codes must be used for dates of service on and after OCT 1,2013 and that we should make sure that our billing and coding staffs are aware of these changes. This is listed in the MLN MATTERS Number MM7492 does anyone know or have heard anything else about this and who all is or will be affected by this? pls help if you can and Thanks in advance Signed VERY CONFUSED

This article was released on 8/19/11, implementation date 1/1/12 and revised 3/27/13. The revision refers you to MM8207 which shows the new inplementation date for ICD 10 as 10/1/14.
