I have been asked to start auditing for our clinics. While I am a CPC, I have no prior audit experience. I have found some good tools online and I have a basic knowledge of what it entails. We follow the 95 guidelines, and what I am wondering is this, where can I find actual education on the subject. I feel more comfortable in a classroom setting rather than trying to teach myself with a book. I need to have someone available to ask questions. I would at some point like to become a CPMA, but I am not comfortable taking the exam at this time without some education first. I was looking for some type of mentor or a person to teach me the basics. MDM has been difficult for me and I tend to confuse  or second guess  myself on things. Any information would be appreciated!

There is a bootcamp sponsored by NAMAS which I found very useful. "Medical Auditing Boot Camp." Very informative. Instructor was more than helpful. The website is namas.co/ National Alliance of Medical Auditing Specialists. And I passed my exam on the first try.

I am also certified E&M, so that certainly helps if you're doing auditing Evaluation and Management services.

Good luck.:)
