Hello - My provider coded this surgery as 54161 & 14040. He is new to practice and this procedure isn't one we do very often in our ASC. Wondering if anyone codes for Detorsion of congenital torsion of penis and what codes you use. The following is the op note. Thanks!
The operation began by making the distal cuff incision circumferentially about 1 cm proximal to the glans. The dissection was carried down to the dartos and the penis degloved until the phimotic band was reached and the torsion corrected. Exquisite hemostasis was ensured at this point. This was then incised dorsally and ventrally, and then the apices of these incisions were sewn to the dorsal and ventral distal cuff with interrupted 5-0 Vicryl correcting the torsion.
The left foreskin flap was then marked to line up with the left distal cuff. This was then removed at the annotated line and sent for analysis. The left proximal and distal cuffs were then set with a 5-0 Vicryl interrupted in the midline. 5-0 Vicryl was then used in interrupted fashion until this entire left side was reapproximated.
The same procedure was then performed on the right side.
