We have a physician who is going on maternity leave shortly and have a PA who is going to be covering for her. There physician and owner of the practice will be the supervising physician. Could someone tell me the correct way to bill for her services? Any assistance is appreciated....Thanks, Faye

Locum is for physician to physician only. If a PA will be covering for the providers patients then:

* The PA would continue to render services as a PA
* The owner/physician providing the supervision requirement.

As both physicians, the one on leave and the owner, are part of the same practice and credentialed then it would not be locum situation.
