Surgeon biopsied the liver while doing a Lap Chole - because liver had a white coating, pathology says nothing was abnormal - how do I code for the bx if nothing was found wrong?
Laparoscopic liver biopsy is 47379 compared to 47100. The dx code would be the reason the surgeon stated in the OP note that it was felt to be medically necessary. If the pathology had shown something else, that would be the dx code you would use.
